What if? Where am I? What happens next?

I have been asked many times, how do you go about finding stories to write? A friend in another group wondered how the people in the group go about writing a story and that made me pause and think about it. I replied with the way stories fall into my lap thus…”When I write I know the beginning and end of the story, with my stories, right always prevails so, I already have a story. I find the question what if? and find I ask that question several times a day, from the most mundane things… Now I have the story and ask, what happens next and where am I? I then become the character of focus and ask, what would I do given the circumstances? Ask again, what happens next? and place myself in the characters place… until the end of the story!
